The Middle East has the most unique construction market in the world. The speed at which developments are being started, ambitious completion dates and the fact that so many major schemes are being carried out concurrently has inflated the demand for avant-garde interior design.
A study by the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) states that the Middle East's unprecedented property boom is set to continue until the end of the decade. Hence, the demand for sourcing high-end supplies would continue to outstrip the current supply until at least 2010, paving the way for significant revenue opportunities for new market entrants.
With billions of dollars of projects still planned for the region, this is a prime time to embrace and begin a new era. The GCC states comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE now have a combined GDP that would place them 15th amongst the world's largest economies. Many of these economies have doubled in the
last five years.
The Middle East construction industry recognises that apart from the exteriors, there is a persistent need to use interior design as a key differentiator and to formulate a competitive edge for high-profile building projects.
